Record Numbers Expected for Lincoln’s Good Life Halfsy | KLIN

The 11th annual Good Life Halfsy through the streets of Lincoln on Sunday will be a record breaker. “We have 7,100 runners in the race this year. This is the most we’ve ever had,” says race organizer Ben Cahoon.

“This weekend, runners from 47 states and four countries are coming to Lincoln to compete in the race, and that represents an economic impact of approximately $3 million for the city of Lincoln.” He says 1,800 runners are participating in their first-ever half marathon become.

A runner will attempt to break a unique record. “He’s trying to win the Guinness Book of World Records for the fastest person in a mammal costume,” Cahoon says. Last year a Guinness record was set for the fastest half marathon wearing a graduation cap and gown.

There will be 25 entertainment acts along the 13 mile route and 15,000 spectators are expected. It begins at 8:30 a.m. at Seacrest Field and ends at Canopy Street in the Haymarket. Residents are encouraged to plan for traffic delays in advance and are also asked to support runners at four outdoor cheer stations at Neighbors Park, Union Plaza, Innovation Campus and Haymarket Park.
