ALEA and Tuskegee police want to know if there is a connection between the death investigation and a fatal crash, both of which occurred Sunday in Macon County.

ALEA says they were asked to help Tuskegee police with the death investigation around 5:56 a.m. Sunday. ALEA said an incident, which was not described, occurred near the 200 block of East Martin Luther King Highway in Tuskegee.

According to investigators, 19-year-old Kandarius Green of Tuskegee and a 16-year-old were injured and arrived at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika with injuries. The 16-year-old was flown to another hospital and pronounced dead. The 16-year-old’s name was not released.

Then, around 1:35 p.m. Sunday, state troopers were called to a car accident in Macon County. They say the driver, 32-year-old William Howard Jr. of Tuskegee, was pronounced dead at the scene. According to investigators, the car left the road and overturned. They say he wasn’t wearing his seatbelt and was thrown from the car. The accident occurred on US Highway 29, about five miles south of Tuskegee.

ALEA special agents, state troopers and the Tuskegee Police Department are investigating both incidents. Once the results are complete, they will be turned over to the Macon County District Attorney’s Office.
