No suspect in case of man found dead after knocking on door; Investigation ongoing: LPD

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — ABC13 is still trying to find answers in the case of the Lynchburg man who was found dead after knocking on doors on Rivermont Avenue in the middle of the night.

According to Lynchburg police, 39-year-old Anthony Bowling was found dead early Monday morning. Officers said he knocked on doors in the area overnight before arriving at the apartment where he was found by officers.

ABC13 reporter Alexia Stanbridge spoke with neighbors in the area, including one who shared Ring doorbell footage that shows Bowling knocking on the home’s door in the dark.

On Tuesday we asked police if there was any news on the story. LPD says the coroner’s report won’t be ready for several months, but “initial reports indicate no obvious signs of injury.”

“All of the video surveillance we have collected so far only shows Mr. Bowling,” LPD said. “Witnesses who were in the area at the time of the death only saw Mr. Bowling alone. We do not have a suspect that we are pursuing at this time.”

Police said the case remains an ongoing and active investigation.
