The Woodlands Township proudly hosted the inaugural Founders Cup Tennis Tournament on October 12-13, 2024, marking the successful start of a promising new tradition. Over 250 tennis enthusiasts, from beginners to experienced players, formed teams to compete in an exciting weekend of doubles matches across the Woodlands community. The event concluded at the Bear Branch Park Tennis Complex with a series of intense finals. The Founders Cup highlighted The Woodlands’ strong tennis heritage and fostered camaraderie among participants.

This year’s event also showcased remarkable talent and dedication, with players demonstrating their love of tennis in every match. As preparations for next year’s tournament continue, anticipation is building for even greater participation and an enhanced experience that caters to athletes of all levels. The following teams received gold and silver medals in 2024:

Gold medalist in women’s doubles:

  • Chicks with Sticks – Donna Ullrich, Cari Gonzales, Leigh Robinson, Annie Lindholmers, Monica Roberts and Paige Phuong
  • Smash or Pass – Giang Dinh, Linh Do, Karen Vuong, Lan Au, Jamie Roberts and Amy Glenney
  • Pacers – Paola Tucker, Karen Harvie, Teresa Brady, Cat Gasper, Araceli Schmaltz and Patricia Whitenight

Silver medalist in women’s doubles:

  • Backhands and Compliments – Lisa Buoni, Becky Fralix, Rachel Wilson, Libia Duarte, Elizabeth Curry and Pilar Marin
  • Trouble Tribe – Heidi McKeever, Kristen Perkins, Louise Juillard, Carol Viecelli, Jane Lacey and Caroline Miller
  • Win set 2 – Catriona Edmond, Tara Brengel, Karen Seefeldt, Colleen Ayres, Tina Marin and Rachel Compofelice

Gold medalists in men’s doubles:
