Who will “The Reaper” fight next?

Who will “The Reaper” fight next?

Robert Whittaker’s next fight sees the former UFC middleweight king face Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 308. Should he prevail against Chimaev, “The Reaper” could be next in line for a rematch with Dricus Du Plessis and another shot at the UFC middleweight title in 2025.

Robert Whittaker Next Fight: Who will “The Reaper” fight at UFC 308?

When it comes to the UFC’s 185-pound division, Robert Whittaker is a seasoned veteran. Although “The Reaper” is only 33 years old, he has had 17 fights in the UFC middleweight division over a 12-year period.

Robert Whittaker’s record is currently 26-7, with a chance to improve that at UFC 308. This consists of 10 knockout victories, five submissions and 11 victories via decision. The New Zealand MMA phenom is of course also the former king of the UFC at 185 pounds.

UFC fans last saw Robert Whittaker in action in June in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In a fight that was viewed as a banana peel for “Bobby Knuckles,” Whittaker emphatically knocked out Ikram Aliskerov in Round 1. He definitely reminded fans who “The Reaper” was and put the rest of the middleweight division on notice.

Now Robert Whittaker is back in action just four months later on October 26th at UFC 308. UFC president Dana White is hoping for a sensational card Saturday night, including Whittaker vs. Chimaev in addition to several other high-profile fights. Not to mention the main event between Ilia Topuria and Max Holloway for the UFC featherweight title.

As for Robert Whittaker’s next fight, he will face undefeated Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 308. At 15-0, Chimaev is a hot contender and is considered a middleweight champion for years to come. Maybe he’ll even become one of the greats of the sport later on.

The top UK betting sites have ‘The Reaper’ listed as a slight underdog heading into UFC 308, but many people will be backing the New Zealander to hand Chimaev the first defeat of his career on fight night. Time will tell whether that is the case or not.

Could Whittaker’s next fight after Khamzat Chimaev be for the UFC middleweight title?

If Robert Whittaker survives his fight against Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 308 unscathed, he could well be looking for another title shot next. If he beats Chimaev, especially considering he’s the underdog in this fight, Whittaker simply won’t be denied a shot at UFC gold in 2025.

Whittaker is ranked No. 3 at 185 pounds, with only champion Dricus Du Plessis, Israel Adesanya and Sean Strickland above him. Should the 33-year-old derail the Chimaev hype train at UFC 308, he could well be the next person in line to get a shot at Du Plessis next year.

This all depends on how good “The Reaper” looks at UFC 308 and if he takes any damage himself. If not, he could have another shot at UFC gold sometime next year.

Of course, if Whittaker’s UFC title fight doesn’t happen next, there are other options. A final eliminator fight against Sean Strickland would make sense. Maybe a trilogy with Israel Adesanya? If it’s not the title next, Whittaker at least deserves another mammoth fight and a huge payday.

The best UFC betting sites in the UK would probably make a case for Whittaker to beat all of these names, especially if he pulls off the upset against Chimaev at UFC 308. Time will tell what happens next for “Bobby Knuckles,” but he’s certainly not far from the promised land once again. That’s for sure.

Let’s hope Robert Whittaker’s next fight after this fight is for the UFC middleweight title, assuming he beats Khamzat Chimaev in their co-main event fight at UFC 308.
