18-year-old in custody after shooting on SEPTA bus, injuring three women

An 18-year-old was arrested by U.S. Marshals after a shooting on a SEPTA bus in West Philadelphia in early October.

Officials said Raphael Ezeamaka, 18, was arrested Wednesday afternoon at an apartment in the 400 block of Ramunno Drive in Middletown, Delaware. When U.S. Marshals arrived, Ezeamaka tried to escape from a second-floor balcony, according to officials.

They caught him in a back bedroom of the apartment without incident.

Police say Ezeamaka is the gunman who fired multiple shots at a SEPTA bus on South 57th Street on Oct. 8. The shooting occurred after he got off the G bus in West Philly shortly before 5 p.m.

Three women were hit in this incident. They were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Ezeamaka is being held at the Howard Young Correctional Institution, where he is awaiting extradition to Philadelphia.
