Trio takes part in the first individual championship

BOCA RATON, Fla – Three Owls are scheduled to represent the Florida Atlantic men’s tennis team at the American Athletic Conference Individual Tennis Championship.

senior John Bernard and doctoral student Jiri Jenicek will challenge the men’s group while Jenicek and sophomores Simon Myslivec will compete in the doubles competition.

The American Individual Championships will be held for the first time in 2024 as the conference determines the men’s and women’s singles and doubles champions.

The singles and doubles champions will represent the American Athletic Conference at the ITA Conference Masters Championships November 7-10 in Rome, Georgia.

Two singles players and one doubles tandem from each of the AAC’s 11 men’s teams will compete for the singles titles.

Consolation rounds are also played in men’s and women’s singles, allowing each student-athlete to play at least two matches.

As the trio competes for a conference title, six Owls will compete in the 2024 Bedford Cup in Florida this weekend. The schedule and draw have yet to be released, but FAU will potentially face players from FGCU, Florida, FSU, Miami, North Florida, South Florida, Stetson and UCF.

Owls participating in this event are Segundo Goity Zapico, Mark Havlicek, Luca Miremont, Mark Pazderaand Luca Pignaton.
