Samual Grace scores another top 10 result in the BMX Freestyle World Cup

Rising Australian BMX freestyle talent Samual Grace has proven his mettle on the world stage, scoring his second top 10 finish at a World Cup this year.

Grace, 21, came 8thTh Overall victory at the UCI BMX Freestyle World Cup in Shanghai, in addition to his 8thTh Place at the World Championships in Montpellier, France earlier this year.

Since the training and qualifying days were characterized by wind and rain, the riders had the opportunity to complete two runs, with the best result counting as the final result.

Grace put in a solid first run with a 720 double bar spin, 1080 and a flair downside tail whip, with the judges scoring the Victorian a 78.40, putting him in fourth place.

Grace was unable to improve his score in his second run, 77.70, and was ultimately pushed down the standings to finish the race in 8th placeTh.

It was a positive result for the Australian national champion and confirmed that he has what it takes to compete with the best in the world.

“I’m not entirely happy with my results as I missed a big trick in both runs due to a small mistake at the start. “It was so close to the exact run I wanted, but not quite.” But it’s still a top 10 race and makes me feel like I’m among those top riders,” Grace said.

Fellow Australian rider Xavier Gilbee, 18, finished 21ststwhile Mylee Toohey, 16, failed to make it to the final in the elite women’s competition with a 16th place finishTh in qualification.
