A recently paroled sex offender has to stand trial for groping a woman at a gas station

OTTAWA COUNTY, MI – A sex offender paroled in January after serving 35 years in prison will stand trial for allegedly groping and assaulting a woman at an Ottawa County gas station.

Greg Dujardine, 61, of Muskegon, was sentenced to trial following a hearing Wednesday, Oct. 23, in Holland District Court.

Dujardine was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of second-degree criminal sexual conduct in 1986 and first-degree criminal sexual conduct in 1989.

However, because the first-degree charge does not carry a sentence of life without parole, he was granted a parole hearing in November.

After his release, he was charged again in September with second-degree sexual abuse and habitual offender.

A detective’s statement contained in court documents shows a 24-year-old woman had been to Duncan’s Woods in Grand Haven after spending time with a friend.

A man in a silver SUV chased her car out of the park and then struck her at low speed on US 31 at Lake Michigan Drive.

The woman continued driving but eventually stopped at a gas station at Stanton Street and US 31 because the man continued to follow her.

According to the witness statement, the man got out of the SUV, walked toward the woman and “put his arm around her waist, his head on her chest and his hand on her (private area).”

The woman, believing Dujardine was trying to kidnap her and drag her to his vehicle, began punching and punching him. Dujardine then allegedly slapped the woman in the face.

He then returned to the SUV and drove away, but not before the woman was able to take phone video that captured his license plate.

After his arrest and in a subsequent police interview, he allegedly admitted putting his arm around the woman but denied touching her private parts.

According to the statement, police examined Dujardine’s phone and found photos of women in swimsuits on area beaches.
