Shooting at Rogers Park leaves one dead and two injured near the Howard Red Line

One man has died and two others were taken to an Evanston hospital after a shooting near the Howard Red Line station in Rogers Park on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Chicago police, it happened in the 1600 block of West Howard Street around 2:50 p.m. The Howard Station is nearby, 7519 N. Paulina St.

The three men were near a sidewalk when someone drove up in a car and an occupant fired shots, police said.

A 29-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds to the neck, back and stomach. He was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Another 18-year-old man was shot in the chest and taken to the same hospital, where he was in critical condition, police said.

The third gunshot victim, a 20-year-old man, was in good condition at St. Francis Hospital and had a gunshot wound to the shoulder, police said.

Nobody was in custody.
