Schumer, Democratic primary report urges voters to be wary of ‘misinformation’ about results

Schumer, Democratic primary report urges voters to be wary of ‘misinformation’ about results

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and other Democrats in the upper house warned Americans in a new report that “ballot counting could take longer in some places” and that they should be “prepared to counter misinformation” about the upcoming vote reject elections.

Schumer, along with Senate Rules Committee Chairwoman Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., Sen. Martin Heinrich, D-N.M., and Sen. Tammy Duckworth , D-Ill., released the report Tuesday, aimed at setting voter expectations for Election Day in less than two weeks and urging people to vote.

“Just like in 2020, Donald Trump and his allies continue to refuse to commit to accepting the election results if he loses, while spreading dangerous and divisive rhetoric to sow discord and undermine trust in our electoral process. Americans are losing confidence in the results of our election.” “The election not only puts another January 6th at risk, but also puts our democracy at risk,” Schumer said in a statement.

“Senate Democrats remain committed to ensuring that all Americans can vote without fear or intimidation.”

Former President Trump will face Vice President Harris in November to determine who will succeed the historically unpopular President Biden.

Responding to Democrats’ release of the report, Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt told Fox News Digital in a statement: “President Trump has always been clear: We must have a free and fair election. “The Democrats are the real threat to democracy through the use of weapons.” The justice system took action last year against President Trump to interfere in the election and unconstitutionally remove him from the ballot.

“Just last night, Joe Biden admitted that the Democrats’ strategy was always to lock him up,” she added.

During a political event in New Hampshire on Tuesday, Biden said: “I know that sounds bizarre. It sounds like I would be locked up if I said that five years ago. We have to lock him up,” referring to Trump, who has been indicted in four lawsuits.

Biden quickly backtracked, declaring: “Lock him up politically, lock him out. This is what we have to do.”

In a section of the Democrats’ report titled “In some states, we may not know the winner on election night. That’s OK,” Democrats said, saying that the processing of mail-in and mail-in ballots and the different rules that govern the process vary. States could delay the final election results.

The senators also provided “background on election procedures” in certain key states that are either presidential or congressional battlegrounds, including Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Michigan, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Wisconsin.

“The right to vote is fundamental to our democracy, and we must do everything we can to protect it and maintain the integrity of the electoral process,” Klobuchar said in a statement. “That means rolling back efforts to sow chaos during election season.”

“As this report explains, this also means ensuring that Americans know that it is possible that the outcome in some states will not be known on November 5th. While some states have sped up their counting requirements since 2020, we should be prepared to be patient about results in places where ballots may take longer to count should continue to make our voices heard at the ballot box.
