Funeral arrangements announced for Perryton’s assistant fire chief

PERRYTON, Texas (KFDA) – Funeral arrangements have been announced for Perryton Deputy Fire Chief Scott Glass.

Assistant Chief Glass’s funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 28, at the Community Worship Center, 2210 SW 15th Avenue in Perryton.

A fire parade will lead the way from the funeral to Ochiltree Cemetery, followed by a memorial service.

Citizens are encouraged to line the streets to the cemetery to support Assistant Chief Glass.

Glass will be escorted back to Perryton on Friday.

Chief Glass and two other firefighters were injured Oct. 17 while setting up equipment, fire hoses and traffic control.

According to the U.S. Fire Department, a vehicle drove over the hose as members were setting up a water supply. A coupling burst, causing three firefighters to fall to the ground.

Assistant Chief Glass suffered serious head injuries and was airlifted to Northwest Texas Healthcare System in Amarillo.

Glass died from his injuries on October 20.

Volunteer firefighters Thomas Beal and Jacob Anderson were also injured in the incident.

Beal suffered a broken arm and other fractures. He was taken to an area hospital but has since been released.

Anderson was also treated and released with minor injuries.
