Ray Maxwell breaks the record for most wins in Section V boys soccer history

LIVONIA, N.Y. (WHEC) – On Wednesday, Livonia advanced to the first round of the Section V Class B boys soccer tournament with a 9-0 victory over 16th-seeded Wayland-Cohocton.

The win sent the Bulldogs into the quarterfinals, and it also propelled Maxwell into territory entirely of his own. It was Maxwell’s 567th coaching victory in Section V boys soccer, passing Don Hartley as the all-time winning record.

“It just reminds me how long I’ve been here, I guess,” Maxwell said. “I don’t want to be too cliche, but if you coach long enough and have the type of players we had here at Livonia, you’re going to win a lot of games.”

The Bulldogs boys soccer program has a long history of winning under Maxwell, including the 2012 Class B State Championship title. Livonia will once again compete for a Sectionals championship this season.

Next up for the top-seeded Bulldogs is a game against Attica/Alexander on Saturday at 6 p.m
