Tulane Men face Houston and Birmingham on weekend trips

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane men’s tennis team will be in two locations simultaneously this weekend as it competes in both the AAC Fall Championships in Houston and the CCB Invitational in Birmingham.

The American Individual Championships will be held for the first time in 2024 as the conference determines the men’s and women’s singles and doubles champions. The singles and doubles champions will represent the American Athletic Conference at the ITA Conference Masters Championships November 7-10 in Rome, Georgia.

Two singles players and one doubles tandem from each of the 11 men’s teams and 13 women’s teams in the American Athletic Conference will compete for the singles titles.

The first round matches in singles and doubles begin on Thursday, while the round of 16 in singles ends on Thursday afternoon. The singles and doubles quarterfinals will be played on Friday, followed by the semifinals on Saturday and the championship final on Sunday.

There will also be consolation rounds in men’s and women’s singles, giving each student-athlete the opportunity to play at least two matches.

Seniors Luc Hoeijmans And Luka Petrovic will play both singles and doubles (together) for the Green Wave in Houston.

Hoeijmans will face Temple’s Adam Kresina in the first round of the singles main draw at 11 a.m. The winner will be fifth seed Timothy Carlsson Seger of Tulsa in the round of 16 on Thursday at 3:30 p.m

Petrovic, the group’s No. 10 seed, has a first-round bye, as does his R16 opponent Harry Rock of Memphis, the No. 7 seed. This game will also take place at 3:30 p.m

Tulane will also send five players (Charlie Burdell, Asaf Friedler, Maxim Kalinin, Steven Rice And Vincent Vohl) this weekend for the BCC Invitational in Birmingham, where singles and doubles will also be played.
