Dan Ige expects a “fun fight” against Lerone Murphy at UFC 308 and hopes for a big next fight: “This is preparing me for something big.”

Dan Ige is expecting an entertaining fight against Lerone Murphy at UFC 308.

Ige is coming off a decision loss to Diego Lopes at UFC 303, in a fight he taped just hours in advance. It was a hectic day for the Hawaiian and he says he’s glad he made it because he proved to everyone how good he is.

“It was pretty crazy, I knew as much as anyone else. I just spent a normal Saturday training for a fight, I trained all week. Saturday is usually a tough practice, so I finished practice and went home,” Ige said on Just Scrap Radio on BJPENN.com. “Got a massage and they called me. It was on such short notice, but it was a crazy experience. I don’t think this caliber has ever existed at this level, the co-main event of International Fight Week. It was a win-win situation for me, I put in a great performance and was close to winning.”

After a break, Dan Ige will return at UFC 308 against Lerone Murphy. Ige and Murphy were booked to fight in February this year, but the Brit had to pull out due to injury. Having already had a camp of his own, Ige feels well prepared for this fight.

“You can add or take away a few things, he’s had a fight since then,” Ige said. “Overall it’s essentially the same, it comes down to my attitude and deciding what I want to do and what I want to prove to myself. I just decide what I want to do and I want to go out and win. I expect an entertaining fight, but I also expect a win and a promotion again.”
