Marshall Announces Release of Bespoke Beers | News, sports, jobs

MARSHALL – A line of four Brau Brothers beers developed in collaboration with the City of Marshall and Southwest Minnesota State University are now available at Tall Grass Liquor. The city unveiled three beers Tuesday that represent the Marshall community.

The first of the exclusive beers, Mustang Golden Ale, was introduced earlier this month in time for SMSU’s homecoming.

“We are excited to offer these unique, limited edition craft beers,” said Eric Luther, manager of Tall Grass. “Customers often tell me they are looking for unique, locally brewed craft beer and this collaboration offers them exactly that.”

During Luther’s staff report to the city council Tuesday night, Marshall City Council members got a look at the exclusive beer can designs. Luther said the city, Brau Brothers and SMSU have been working on the project since about January or February.

“This is a wonderful collaboration between SMSU, the city of Marshall, Tall Grass Liquor and Brau Brothers.” said Marshall Mayor Bob Byrnes.

Luther gave an overview of the three Marshall beers.

“One of them is called Brew 1872, which is a nod to the founding of Marshall and the year it was founded. “It’s an amber ale,” he said. “We have Cultivate, which we’ve had in larger doses or crow cans before. This is a pale ale, and in a way it celebrates our Marshall slogan: “Cultivating the best in us.”

Cultivate Pale Ale was the City of Marshall’s first collaboration with Brau Brothers. It was originally released in 2020 as part of the city’s branding efforts. Previously it was only available at the Brau Brothers tap house.

The third exclusive beer, Jiminey Jumper Juicy Light Apple Lager, is a nod to Tall Grass Liquor’s grasshopper mascot, Luther said.

The four exclusive beers are available in six-packs at Tall Grass Liquor while stocks last.

“We hope to continue to enjoy locally, drink locally and kind of celebrate the things we have in Marshall.” said Luther.
