Owners describe fear after Cutler Bay stores damaged by bullets from double gunfire – NBC 6 South Florida

Celina Perdomo says she literally dodged a bullet when she closed her business early Monday evening.

“We were lucky it didn’t hit the window because if it went through the window, everything in there would be destroyed,” Perdomo said.

She is the manager at Andante Bike Shop in Cutler Bay. It is one of several businesses hit by stray bullets after gunfire erupted near Franjo Park during a youth baseball game just before 8 p.m.

The shooting sent children, parents and coaches running for cover.

According to police, none of the children were injured, but officers determined that two men were shot.

According to investigators, the men were released from the hospital but did not cooperate with police.

A few doors down from the bike shop is a barbershop that needed new windows after a shooting attack.

The owner says the gunfire shattered the glass windows at the front of the store and caused $2,000 in damage.

City leaders say they plan to increase police presence around the park and offer counseling to anyone who needs it.

As a precautionary measure, games at the park have been suspended until Friday.
