“Day of the Jackal” is sold in nearly 200 territories

NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution has sold the thriller “The Day of the Jackal,” starring Eddie Redmayne, to nearly 200 countries worldwide. The show’s UK premiere took place in London on Tuesday.

The series, a standout title at the LA Screenings in May, was subsequently snapped up by buyers around the world.

Excluded from these sales are the US, where Peacock already owned the rights, as well as the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy, where Sky is the rights holder.

In The Day of the Jackal, an unrivaled and extremely elusive lone assassin, the Jackal (Redmayne), makes a living by carrying out murders for top dollar. But after his latest murder, he meets an adversary: ​​a stubborn British intelligence officer (Lashana Lynch), who begins a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe to track down the jackal, leaving destruction in his wake.

The series premieres in the US on November 14th on Peacock with the first five episodes, followed by weekly episodes and a double-episode finale (episodes nine and ten) on December 12th. The series premieres in the UK on November 14th on Sky. 7.

The writer and executive producer is Ronan Bennett. The other executive producers are Gareth Neame and Nigel Marchant for Carnival Films, Sam Hoyle for Sky Studios, Sue Naegle, director Brian Kirk and Redmayne.

Lynch was co-executive producer. Chris Hall was producer. Frederick Forsyth was a consulting producer.

The cast was led by Redmayne, Lynch and Úrsula Corberó, supported by Charles Dance, Richard Dormer, Chukwudi Iwuji, Lia Williams, Khalid Abdalla, Eleanor Matsuura, Jonjo O’Neill, Nick Blood, Sule Rimi and Florisa Kamara.

The series was produced by Carnival Films, part of Universal International Studios, a division of Universal Studio Group.
