During Tuesday’s presidential debate, former President Donald Trump spread the lie that migrants in Springfield, Ohio, were eating people’s pets.

“In Springfield they eat the dogs. The people who came in eat the cats. They eat…they eat the pets of the people who live there,” he said.

Springfield city officials have denied these reports as untrue and said they have not received any credible reports of these claims. Springfield police also told a local news outlet that they had not received any reports of pets being stolen or eaten.
