Tennis Tracker: Zheng is in the early stages after Kasatkina and Siniakova claim victories

The Asian swing continues on the WTA Tour, with the action taking place in Japan and China. Meanwhile, the ATP Tour continues in Europe as a number of players fight for positions and the ATP Finals draw ever closer.

09:42 CET – Daria Kasatkina (27), fresh from winning the title last week in Ningbo, got off to a winning start in Tokyo, recovering from a shaky start to beat McCartney Kessler (25) 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 ) prevailed.

Meanwhile in Guangzhou, top seed Katerina Siniakova (28) easily reached the quarterfinals after a routine 6-1, 6-4 win over Alycia Parks (23).

The WTA Tour is still taking place in Asia, which means there was a result in Tokyo in the early hours of the morning: Sofia Kenin (25) recovered from a set down to overtake Clara Tauson (21) 6-7(8) , 6 -4, 7-6(6) in an epic contest.

Currently on the court is last week’s Ningbo winner, Daria Kasatkina (27), who is competing against McCartney Kessler (25). Number 1 seed Qinwen Zheng (22) will take the court a little later as she wants to continue her good 2024 before making her WTA Finals debut in a few weeks.

Over in Guangzhou, another number 1 seed, Katerina Siniakova (28), is currently playing and wants to reach the quarter-finals.

Later in the day, Vienna welcomes Jack Draper (22), Grigor Dimitrov (33) and Alex De Minaur (25), while Stefanos Tsitsipas (26), Holger Rune (21) and two-time defending champion Felix Auger-Aliassime (24) want to get in Secure Basel a place in the last eight.
