Last year in Basel, Stanislas lost his opening match against Shevchenko in straight sets.

Ben Shelton has won three of his last five games. Two weeks ago, Shelton reached the round of 16 in Shanghai when, as predicted, he lost to Sinner in close sets. Here in Basel, Ben had a positive draw in the first round. Ben defeated Etcheverry in straight sets. Shelton served great as always and only offered one break point. This time last year, Shelton was playing in Vienna, where he lost in the first round of the tournament.
