Aqua’s long quest for revenge has taken a significant turn, but many mysteries remain unsolved.

His actions will undoubtedly have a domino effect on the people closest to him, but how his ultimate revenge plan will ultimately play out is still uncertain.

The chapter began with a dream sequence of Aqua dealing with the consequences of his decision to take revenge on Hikaru Kamiki.

In the previous chapter, Aqua tracked down Hikaru, who had manipulated former B-Komachi idol Fuyuko Niino into killing Ruby Hoshino in the same way as Ai Hoshino. However, thanks to Ichigo Saito’s intervention, the attempt failed and Aqua was able to locate Hikaru.

Despite the years that had passed since Ai’s death, Hikaru remained obsessed with her and made it his goal to prevent any idol, including Ruby, from surpassing her legacy. He provoked Aqua and seduced him to seek revenge, but he also knew that Aqua would lose too much if he killed him outright.

Instead, Aqua came up with a plan. He injured himself before lunging at Hikaru, making it appear as if he was acting in self-defense. Their fight resulted in them falling off a cliff into a river.

This fall triggered Aqua’s dream sequence that opened Chapter 163. In the dream, Aqua was in Miyazaki Hospital as Goro Amamiya.

In this alternate reality, Sarina Tendoji had a successful surgery and fully recovered from her illness. She reconciled with her mother, grew up to live a normal life, and continued to idolize Ai and B-Komachi.

In this dream, Sarina finally became an idol and invited Goro to one of her concerts, where she performed together with Ai. As Goro watched from a distance, Aqua stood in Purgatory next to a mysterious child named Tsukuyomi.

Aqua then experienced an identity crisis, wondering if he truly had a life of his own or if he was simply continuing Goro’s path. Tsukuyomi explained that Aqua possessed Goro’s memories and will through reincarnation, but he also inherited Ai and Hikaru’s genetic traits.

Ultimately, Tsukuyomi revealed that Aqua was both Goro and himself – someone who cared deeply for Sarina and Ai, but was unable to stop the tragedies that befell them. In his current form, Aqua was a young man filled with anger at the injustices done to the two people he loved.

The chapter ended with the realization that Aqua Hoshino embodied the combined emotions and experiences of Goro and Aqua.

According to Shueisha’s official Manga Plus app, the next chapter of the manga will be released on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, 7 a.m. Pacific Standard Time (PT).
