Chicago Shooting: CCL owner shoots carjacking suspect at 82nd Street and Ashland Avenue in Gresham: CPD

CHICAGO (WLS) – A 16-year-old suspect was shot after attempting to kidnap a man on the city’s South Side, according to Chicago police.

The crime occurred around 5:20 a.m. near 82nd Street and Ashland Avenue in the Gresham neighborhood.

A 47-year-old man was in his Toyota Camry when a group of four people ambushed him and demanded his car.

Police said someone “fired a chemical agent” at the victim. The police did not provide any information about what chemical was involved.

The victim, who had a valid FOID and CCL, shot the suspects.

One of the suspects, 16, was shot in the left knee and his left arm was grazed by a bullet. He was taken to hospital and is expected to be fine.

The other suspects fled in the victim’s Toyota Camry and drove east.

The victim was treated on scene. No other injuries were reported.

No charges have been announced. Chicago police are investigating.

This came just hours after sources told ABC7 Chicago that a retired police officer shot and killed a suspected vehicle thief on the city’s West Side.
