Man convicted of murder in deadly South Shore Plaza store shooting and scheduled to be sentenced

A man convicted of murder earlier this week in connection with a deadly shooting at South Shore Plaza in Braintree will learn his fate Thursday.

Julius Hammond-Desir, of Maynard, is scheduled to be sentenced in Norfolk Superior Court in Dedham after a jury found him guilty Tuesday of first-degree murder in the Jan. 22, 2022, killing of Dijoun Beasley of Boston, according to the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office .

According to investigators, Beasley was shopping with his girlfriend at Forever 21 on the first floor of the mall when Hammond-Desir fatally shot him.

Police departments from multiple communities and heavily armed SWAT officers responded to the scene of the shooting and imposed a lockdown at the mall.

Hammond-Desir fled the mall after the shooting. Weeks later he was captured and charged with murder.

Samantha Schwartz, 27, of Attleboro, was also charged with accessory to murder and carrying a firearm in connection with the incident.

The sentencing hearing will take place at 10 a.m
