McDonald’s, election day, QSR traffic

McDonald’s, election day, QSR traffic

An E. coli outbreak has been linked to McDonald’s Quarter Pounder hamburgers or the onions served on them. The outbreak has killed at least one person and sickened dozens more in Colorado, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported.

The E. coli outbreak isn’t the only situation McDonald’s has had to deal with so far this week. On Tuesday, U.S. Senators Elizabeth Warren, Bob Casey and Ron Wyden sent a letter to CEO Chris Kempczinski urging more information about the chain’s pricing decisions as the quick-service segment continues to outperform the overall consumer price index.

There are less than two weeks until Election Day: Do you know what you’re voting for? Most Americans will vote on more than just the president on November 5th. Nine states have introduced ballot measures that restaurant operators should pay close attention to.

The quick-service segment has been struggling with traffic losses for over a year, but high prices are not the only reason for this. A new report from Chartmeter shows that negative reviews about speed, accuracy, and employee and manager behavior on QSRs have increased year-over-year.
