Shooting in Beaufort Co., car fire leaves two dead, one injured

BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) – Beaufort County officials are investigating a shooting and vehicle fire that left two people dead and one injured.

Officers said they responded to the corner of Parris Island Gateway and Trask Parkway in Burton around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday for a reported shooting.

Minutes later, they received a report that a car was on fire in the 800 block of Ribaut Road in Beaufort. Deputies have determined that there is indeed a connection between these two incidents.

According to investigators, three people were in the car at the time of the shooting. While they were on the way to the hospital, the car crashed and caught fire.

Two of the vehicle’s three occupants died. The third is being treated for injuries.

The Beaufort County coroner will conduct autopsies on both deceased victims Thursday.
