Fatal hit-and-run is under investigation in South Jersey

MILLVILLE, NJ – A woman was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Millville on Monday, authorities said. Her body was found a few hours later.

The Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office (CCPO) continues to investigate the murder of Caroline Bump. The vehicle that hit her Monday evening was identified on surveillance footage but has not been found, and a person has been wanted for questioning as of Thursday morning.

Surveillance footage showed a vehicle hit Bump on Glenside Road around 11:10 p.m. Monday, the CCPO said. A passing driver discovered Bump’s body around 1:40 a.m. Tuesday.

Bump, 21, of Millville, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are attempting to locate a 2003 Silver Infinity G35 with New Jersey plates and a license plate reading E41RLB. The CCPO believes the driver’s side headlight, windshield and front bumper are damaged. (See vehicle photos above.)

Authorities also want to speak with Breanna Rowley, 22, of Delmar Avenue in Vineland. The CCPO did not say how it is related to the case.
