Possible officer-involved shooting in Newbury Park under investigation

NEWBURY PARK, CALIFORNIA. – An investigation is underway into a possible deputy-involved shooting Thursday in Newbury Park.

It started on the highway but ended just a few blocks away in the Ralph’s parking lot at Ventu Park Center.

SkyFOX above the crime scene shows several patrol cars and deputies in the area.

Officials said a person was seen running through the area with a gas can and a machete. A can of gasoline was recovered from the crime scene as evidence.

When officers arrived, they confronted the person in the parking lot.

The Ventura Fire Department transported a person described by authorities as a suspect to a local hospital with injuries.

The suspect’s condition is unknown.

The investigation is ongoing.
