Leaked files from a Labor-affiliated group reveal plans to attack Elon Musk’s Twitter

Donald Trump’s campaign has filed a formal complaint accusing Labor of violating US election law in sending volunteers, just days after Nigel Farage accused Labor of “election interference” after party advisers traveled to the US, to campaign for Kamala Harris. Now leaked documents believed to be from a Labor-affiliated group suggest the left may also be trying to attack Elon Musk’s Twitter as part of its pro-Kamala efforts. My heaven…

Leaked documents believed to have been created by the Center for Countering Digital Hate – founded by Sir Keir Starmer’s now chief of staff Morgan McSweeney – were published on Paul Thacker and Matt Taibbi’s Disinformation Chronicle Substack. The files reportedly list “killing Musk’s Twitter” as one of the group’s annual priorities, with the sentiment appearing in several documents from the early months of 2024. As Freddy Gray noted today, countering digital hate these days tends to mean shutting down derogatory speech on platforms that don’t already censor right-wing political views. Another of its top priorities is to “trigger EU and UK regulatory action,” while the documents also reportedly show that the group has sought to strengthen ties with senior Democrats like Sen. Amy Klobuchar to boost their “political engagement in the USA”. ” How very interesting.

CCDH’s close links with Labor go back to the organization being founded by the Labor leader’s campaign guru – who also founded the influential think tank Labor Together. In fact, Thacker’s Disinformation Chronicle describes CCDH as a “messaging vehicle” for Labor Together – which has close links to the Starmer army, not least because many of its former staff are now MPs. It recently emerged that Labor Together has drawn attention to the US after senior figures in the organisation, including former Labor MP Jonathan Ashworth, reportedly shared campaign tips with Kamala Harris. The connections between Labor Democrats and Labor Democrats are becoming increasingly strange…

For its part, CCDH said:

The Center for Countering Digital Hate works to stop the spread of online hate and disinformation through innovative research and policy advocacy. We are not endorsed, advised or funded by any political party or organization. Our mission is to protect human rights and civil liberties online, and we will continue to fight for changes to outdated laws that continue to allow social media platforms to spread dangerous disinformation that harms children and people around the world cause damage. The Center for Countering Digital Hate researches conspiracy theories, we don’t deal with them.

As a nonprofit organization, CCDH benefits from special tax exemptions – which it could lose if it is found that a “significant part of its activities seeks to influence legislation.” If the leaked files are authentic, it appears the Labor Party-linked political entity has some pretty important questions to answer…
