Schedule, View Info, Tips for Homestead – NBC 6 South Florida

The best riders in the world are bringing their talent to South Beach this weekend.

NASCAR will continue the playoffs for the second round of 8 race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Joey Logano secured his spot in the Championship 4 title race with his victory in Las Vegas last week, leaving seven drivers to battle for the final three spots.

Homestead-Miami presents a unique challenge for competitors who have not visited the 1.5-mile oval since last October. The track has a unique layout for its size and is therefore incomparable to any other venue on the programme.

So who’s racing in Miami? What is the schedule for TV and streaming? And which drivers could challenge for victory? Here’s everything you need to know about the Straight Talk Wireless 400 2024:

When is the NASCAR race in Miami?

“Straight Talk Wireless 400” is scheduled for Sunday, October 27, at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBC.

Before the race, practice and qualifying sessions will take place on Saturday. The 38 riders will be split into two groups (found here), with each group receiving 20 minutes of free practice and then competing against each other in two qualifying rounds. This is how it works:

  • Each rider completes one lap on the first lap, with the five fastest riders in each group advancing.
  • In the final round, the remaining drivers are each given one lap to determine the starting order of the top 10. The fastest driver in the overall standings starts from pole, the fastest driver in the other group starts second.
  • The final round times are set for positions 3 to 10 – Group A occupies the even-numbered positions (4th, 6th, 8th, 10th), Group B occupies the odd-numbered positions (3rd, 5th, 7th). , 9.).
  • Places 11 to 38 will be awarded based on the first round times – Group A takes the even places, Group B takes the odd places.

What does the NASCAR TV schedule look like this weekend?

Leigh Diffey (play-by-play), Jeff Burton (analyst) and Steve Letarte (analyst) will anchor for NBC, while Marty Snider, Kim Coon and Dave Burns will serve as pit reporters. Here is the full TV and streaming schedule:

NASCAR Homestead-Miami Predictions, Tips, Favorites

You won’t find many upset winners at Homestead, largely due to the difficulty of the course, tire wear and playoff stakes.

In the 25 races held there since it opened in 1999, all 17 drivers who have won at the track have achieved at least 19 career victories, except Byron and Bell. They have 13 and nine career wins respectively, but they are young active riders who are well on their way to easily surpassing that mark.

So who should you watch out for this weekend? Larson stands out as the favorite, with a lead of 625 laps – including 295 in the last two years – the best lead in the series. Hamlin has the most homestead wins with three and 12 top-10 finishes in 19 career starts.

Other playoff drivers to keep an eye on include Bell (last year’s Homestead winner) and Byron (2021 Homestead winner). Bell has been more consistent in the playoffs than any other driver and a win in the next few weeks seems inevitable. Byron also finished in the top five four times in a row last month.

Reddick, Blaney and Elliott are facing a points deficit and heading into a track where they have all had some success. Reddick finished in the top five three times in four Homestead starts, Blaney led 53 laps and finished second last year, and Elliott’s career average of 10.4 at Homestead trails only Bell (10.0).

To make a long story short: all heavyweights should fight for victory on Sunday.

NASCAR Homestead-Miami winners list, racing history

Seven of the 38 drivers in the field are former Homestead-Miami winners, including only two with multiple wins.

Hamlin leads all drivers with four Homestead Miami victories, followed by Busch with two. The one-time winners are Truex (2017), Logano (2018), Byron (2021), Larson (2022) and Bell (2023).

Homestead-Miami NASCAR playoff rankings

After Logano won in Las Vegas last week, only three spots remain in Championship 4. That leaves seven drivers at risk, although some are in a bigger hole than others. Hamlin, Reddick, Blaney and Elliott are below the cut line, with Homestead-Miami and Martinsville still to go before the final four are eliminated.
