Police release video of an officer-involved shooting in Arlington

ARLINGTON, Texas – Arlington police are expected to release video of a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred earlier this month.

The shooting occurred Oct. 7 at the Blakey Apartments on E. Lamar Boulevard after officers received calls about a suspicious man checking vehicles and possibly in possession of a firearm.

Responding officers found 34-year-old Tony Coward lying on his back on the hood of a vehicle in the parking lot.

He is said to have ignored the officers’ orders and pointed his weapon at the officers.

Two officers fired shots, killing Coward.

Arlington police said Chief Al Jones will provide an update on the shooting investigation and release portions of the officers’ body camera video during a news conference Thursday at 1 p.m
