The live-action film “Lilo & Stitch” will be released in 2025

The animated classic Lilo and Stitch is getting a live-action makeover from Disney. However, the studio has been actively adapting its library of animated features into live-action interpretations Lilo and Stitch will certainly be different due to its sci-fi elements. Now fans know when to expect it Lilo and Stitch as Disney has confirmed its release date for 2025.

The new release date, as confirmed by Variety, comes after the first look at the remake was released at this year’s D23 trade show. It was revealed that Stitch would be created via CGI, albeit with his likeness and iconic features intact. According to the outlet, a more precise release date for the project has now been set.

The film is said to follow the same events as its animated counterpart, in which young Lilo discovers a blue alien named Stitch, whom she adopts as her own pet. Although chaotic at first, the creature soon becomes part of her family, which includes her older sister Nani.

Maia Kealoha has been chosen to portray Lilo Pelekai in the film while Sydney Agudong will play the role of Nani. Actor Chris Sanders will voice Stitch, a role he previously played in the classic animated version. Other cast members include Zach Galifanakis as Dr. Jumba Joookiba, Billy Magnussen as Agent Pleakley, Courtney B. Vance and the original Nani voice actress Tia Carrere.

Now that we know the film’s release date is set for May of this year, it shouldn’t be long before more glimpses of the new adaptation are revealed. Especially since the film is expected to hit theaters in less than a year.
