Water pours onto an eastern side every day and causes damage

Water pours onto a street in east El Paso every day, causing damage. That’s what’s driving a viewer crazy this week!

This person wished to remain anonymous and sent KFOX14 an email saying they notice standing water on the roadway almost every evening.

KFOX14 took this viewer’s concern to El Paso Water to find out what people can do to report leaks.

Driving along Adabel Drive and Miriam Drive, not far from Gateway West in east El Paso, the road is bumpy and here a viewer will see standing water almost every evening.

It turned out that the water came from a building’s water sprinkler system. Denise Parra, El Paso water spokeswoman, said people can report water leaks online, by email or by phone to EP Water so an investigation can begin.

“After the first notification, there will be a second notification. If there is no response, there will be a third notice and the first notice states that the citation could be issued to the property owner. But we’re really trying to make this happen.” You know, the last resort. Our team is really trying to contact the property owner to make sure they know there is a leak on their property,” Parra said.

Water service fees range from $50 to $500. Parra explained that a third complaint resulted from a municipal notice of violation, similar to a Class C citation, and required the person to appear before a judge. and said EP Water can help customers fix leaks.

“If a sprinkler head is leaking and spraying water onto the street, we want to make sure the customer is educated on some of the options available to them, how to fix the problem and what they can use. We We also offer many discounts for customers, such as automatic irrigation control system. Of course, we also have some incentives for outdoor areas. like the water-saving shower heads and the like. And then we also have the water conservation rebate program for businesses,” Parra said.

EP Water does not handle calls regarding City of El Paso park sprinklers, but will accept the complaint and forward it to the City.

Parra said it could take days or weeks for officers to begin investigating because they receive a large number of calls each week, but people can check the status of their case online or by phone.
