‘Back to the Future’ sets Broadway end date

The award-winning musical adaptation of the hit 1985 science fiction film about a time-traveling teenager has been running at the Winter Garden Theater since 2023.

His future is short. Back to the future ends on Broadway and plays its final performance on January 5th at the Winter Garden Theater. At the time of closure, the show will have played over 500 Broadway performances.

Back to the future premiered on Broadway in 2023, following a world premiere in London, where it won the Olivier Award for Best New Musical. The series is based on the 1985 science fiction film of the same name and follows teenager Marty McFly as he travels through time from 1985 to 1955 in a DeLorean car. When Marty accidentally prevents his teenage parents from meeting and falling in love, he must bring them together to save his own existence.

“The musical adaptation, now on Broadway with 1.21 gigawatts of spectacle.” […] gives Back to the future the larger-than-life presentation it deserves,” says New York Theater Guide’s four-star review.

Bob Gale, co-author of Back to the future He wrote the script for the film and wrote the book for the musical. The original songs are by Alan Silvestri, who composed the film’s music, and Glen Ballard. The musical also features songs from the film, including “The Power of Love,” “Johnny B. Goode” and “Earth Angel.”

The current one Back to the future The Broadway cast includes 2024 Tony Award nominee Roger Bart as Doc Brown, Casey Likes as Marty McFly, Evan Alexander Smith as George McFly, Liana Hunt as Lorraine Baines, Jelani Remy as Goldie Wilson/Marvin Berry, Nathaniel Hackmann as Biff Tannen and Mikaela Secada as Jennifer Parker and David Josefsberg as Strickland.
