MASTODON is in the process of starting to fine-tune material for its next studio album

In a new interview with Australia’s Heavy, MASTODON Drummer-singer Brann Dailor spoke about the band’s plans for the successor “Quiet and grim” Album that came out in 2021. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “We wrote. We wrote before that ‘[Ashes Of] Leviathan’ tour here in the US and Canada, and we’re just getting back into it because we just got home from that tour, so to speak. We were gone for two months and then we had a month and a half of weekend warrior stuff where we went out and did festivals on the weekends. So you can’t really split yourself in two and say, “Okay, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, we’ll work on new material, then we’ll work on the set, and then we’ll move on.” take a flight and go to this festival play. Then we’ll come back up.’ It just doesn’t work that way. So let’s get back to work. Actually, I think Monday we’ll really start refining some of the material we had before.”

Brann also talked about it MASTODON And Lamb of Godis the new joint single called “Flood of Triton”which was released in September. The track recorded before the start of the “Ashes of Leviathan” Tour, was provided via Loma Vista shots.

“I wouldn’t say the song is indicative of the new material, but I also wouldn’t say that any single song would ever be indicative of the overall sound of anything we would put out, because I think we “We pride ourselves on offering something, especially when we put out a full album, it offers a lot of variety,” he said. “So it’s like a puzzle. I look at an album like a puzzle. There has to be a balance and everything has to somehow fit together and tell a long story, but it doesn’t necessarily all sound the same.”

earlier this month MASTODON Singer/bassist Troy Sanders Kyle told Meredith about the band’s plans for the next LP: “Luckily we don’t really sit down. Musically there are no real prejudices. Whatever riffs are happening with the people in the band are at the forefront. And if we like it, then we’ll deal with it and try to get it to a point where it can hopefully become a good song. If we decide to have one on the next album, it will happen when someone brings an idea, like, “Hey guys, I’ve been thinking about this thing. What do you think about ta-da-da?” And if it sounds interesting and compelling, then maybe we’ll give it a try. But at this moment we have just completed three years of touring “Quiet and grim”That’s why we’re looking forward to exploring new music. That’s for damn sure. But nothing is written in blood or set in stone. But nothing is taboo either. If someone comes and says, ‘What do you think about this, guys?’ Just listen to me.’ And if it sounds interesting and unique and potentially fun, then we’re in. We never really think, “Hey, the last record was long.” It was good. It was long and dark and the subject matter was really sad. “So we have to do something different.” Well, we’ll do something different anyway. But we won’t do anything just to please our fan base. We won’t do anything to intentionally target a new fan base or anything like that. Whatever we do, we’ve always just relied on the fact that people will see it as authentic, and whether they like it or not, it’s out of our hands anyway.”

Sanders continued that he was “excited to get to grips with his new things.” MASTODON Bandmates. “We have a lot of loose demos that we’ve collected on tour over the years,” he explained. “Now that we’re home, I’m looking forward to calling the guys here in a few days, after everyone’s settled back in after a seven-week tour, and saying, ‘Hey, what’s going on? How do you feel? That’s what you want.’ Are you ready?

Asked if he was thinking about performing MASTODONis complete “Leviathan” album on the last one “Ashes of Leviathan” Co-headlining tour with Lamb of God will have no influence on the musical direction of MASTODONis the next LP, Troy said, “Good question. We’ve been proud to play this record every night for the last month and a half. It didn’t just feel like nostalgia. It felt like, ‘Hey, this is a cool record.’ We know what it has done for us. There’s a lot of people who enjoy it, when we play it live they’ll say, “Hey…” It’s a lot of fun to play. So it wouldn’t surprise me if some ‘Leviathan’ creeps in. But it is still in the early stages.

“Leviathan”published on Relapse RecordsWas MASTODONis the first concept album loosely based on the 1851 novel “Moby Dick” from Herman Melville. Three magazines voted the LP “Album of the Year” in 2004: revolver, Kerrang! And terrorist. In 2009 and 2015 MetalSucks called “Leviathan” the best metal album of the 21st century. “Leviathan” was also released with a limited edition audio DVD and a black and gold slipcase.

MASTODON‘s latest album, the one mentioned above “Quiet and grim”was a double LP recorded at the band’s studio in Atlanta. West End Sound. The effort was produced by David Botrill (TOOL, RUSH, MUSE, PETER GABRIEL) and was MASTODONis the most extensive song cycle to date with 15 different titles. It was the band’s third consecutive number one debut billboard Place in the hard rock albums charts and deserved MASTODON A Grammy Award Nomination for the route “The tides are pushing”. Additionally the single from the album “tear drinker” secured a top 10 placement on the rock radio charts, further evidence of the band’s widespread recognition.
