The investigation into an accident on the set of Eddie Murphy’s “The Pickup” finds no violations

An investigation into an April accident on the set of Eddie Murphy’s new film The pickup determined that the production did not violate any safety regulations.

On Thursday, October 24, a spokesperson for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration told PEOPLE that the investigation into the incident and the inspection, which was completed on October 17, “did not result in any violations of workplace safety and health regulations.”

A spokesman for Amazon MGM Studios declined to comment.

“We appreciate the work of the OSHA team in Atlanta in investigating this unfortunate accident,” IATSE, the union representing film crew employees, told PEOPLE in an Oct. 24 statement. “IATSE members are the best in the business and work hard to ensure their safety and the safety of those around them. This incident is a reminder that all workers deserve to earn a living in a safe environment.”

Back in April, an Amazon MGM Studios spokesperson told PEOPLE that “several members of the crew” were injured in an on-set accident on April 20, while the Associated Press reported at the time that no cast members, including Murphy, 63, were injured. were present on set at the time of the incident.

Days later, the Georgia State Patrol confirmed to PEOPLE that first responders took eight people to hospitals after a two-vehicle accident on the set of the film while production was filming an action sequence.

The accident occurred between a GMC armored car and a BMW vehicle while production was filming a stunt sequence, according to GSP. The New York Times Footage of the collision was released on April 26, showing both vehicles overturning and leaving the road after the collision.

GSP told PEOPLE at the time that two crew members sitting in the back of the armored car were ejected when the rear doors opened, and they suffered life-threatening injuries. Five people were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta and three others were taken to WellStar Cobb Medical Center in Austell, Georgia, for treatment.

The studio told PEOPLE in a statement in April that “all safety precautions were reviewed prior to filming and monitored during filming.”

A source involved in the film’s production told PEOPLE at the time that they “got choked up” watching video of the incident. “It’s so traumatic,” they said. “Knowing that my friends, who I consider family, are being thrown around in the back of the armored truck is just so upsetting. This shouldn’t have happened.”
