The 16-year-old in custody faces additional charges in connection with the second shooting

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has announced that a 16-year-old Clarksburg teenager, currently in custody for a March 2024 shooting, is now facing additional charges in connection with an August 2024 shooting in Germantown .

According to MCPD: “Jaiden Ochieng, who was previously charged with attempted first-degree murder for a March shooting on Archdale Road in Germantown, has been linked to a second shooting on Crystal Rock Drive in August.”

On Thursday, August 8, 5th District officers responded to the 19600 block of Crystal Rock Drive following reports of a shooting. Investigators learned that a blue Honda Civic drove past the victim who was sitting on a park bench. The suspect identified as Ochieng allegedly got out of the vehicle and started shooting at the victim who managed to run away unhurt.

During the investigation, investigators discovered that the blue Honda Civic used in the shooting had been reported stolen in Clarksburg. On Friday, September 6, Ochieng was arrested on Copper Ridge Road in Germantown. When arrested, he threw a handgun that was later confirmed through ballistics analysis to be the weapon used in the August shooting. The pistol was reported lost in Prince George’s County.

Ochieng now faces additional charges, including attempted first-degree murder, motor vehicle theft and several firearm-related crimes. He is being charged as an adult in both the March and August incidents and is currently being held without bail at the Montgomery County Central Unit.”
