These are the first four features you can try in OxygenOS 15

OnePlus is officially announcing OxygenOS 15, its Android 15 update, today, and it’s pretty packed with new features. A big part of it is, you guessed it, AI that comes with the usual stuff: AI Detail Boost, AI Unblur, AI Reflection Eraser, AI Notes, and Google stuff like Gemini and Circle to Search. There’s even a new Smart Search that lets you ask natural language questions about documents stored on your phone.

And while it also brings a number of visual changes, OnePlus has touched on parallel processing. There was an issue where there would be a loss in animation playback when switching between apps, so everything is smoother now.

OnePlus made a beta version of the software available to journalists to review, so I’ve been using it for about a week. Here are my top four features to look at:

4 Share with iPhone

It’s complicated, but it’s there

I’m sorry if you’re upset when you see this, but you’re not getting AirDrop. Although Share with iPhone allows you to share files with iOS devices, it requires a number of steps.

First, the O+Connect app must be installed and set up on the recipient device. Then you need to enable it in OxygenOS settings as it will automatically turn off after 10 minutes. If the recipient then accepts the file, they will need to connect their iPhone to your OnePlus device’s Wi-Fi.

iPhone-style customization options are here

OnePlus has a number of new features to customize your home screen and lock screen. As always, there are a range of wallpapers you can use and you can add a range of styles. There is a depth button so the subject of the photo can stand out over time and whatever else is there. And of course, lock screen widgets are also customizable.

2 AI blur

It’s not perfect, but it’s better than not having it

This feature is pretty self-explanatory. We’ve all taken a photo that was out of focus, whether the device simply took too long, there wasn’t enough light, or some other reason. Now the AI can make improvements for you.

As you can see from the example I used, the AI edited image is much better. It’s by no means perfect, but it’s definitely improved.

Like many other features, this is something other companies do, but now you can do it with a OnePlus phone.

1 AI detail boost

Zooming without a camera

AI detail enhancement upscales your photos so you can crop them without losing quality. Like any other AI feature, this one isn’t perfect, so you’ll still lose some Quality, but not as much as without. It increases the photo to 4K resolution.

This is one of my favorite features on any device because I really like the effects. Digital zoom has been a mess for years, but we have the technology to improve it.

Honorable Mention: AI Eraser

AI Eraser shipped for OnePlus devices earlier this year, so it’s not new to OxygenOS 15. It’s not unique either; Many other companies do this. Still, it’s pretty good and worth using. As this AI-focused update rolls out, I just want to mention one more AI feature we already have.

And that’s about it. OxygenOS 15 will soon be available on a device near you, so check out these features when you get it.
