Arson investigation begins after Brooks County church fire, $10,000 reward offered

QUITMAN, Ga. (WALB) – A state fire department is currently involved in a fire investigation in Brooks County following a fire Wednesday morning.

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King said firefighters were first called to a reported fire at Modern-Day Holiness Church around 6:30 a.m. Oct. 23. “Evidence of possible accelerant at the scene” was found, King said in a statement.

A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of one or more arson suspects.

If anyone has information related to the arson, you are asked to call the 24-hour Georgia Arson Control Hotline at 1-800-282-5804.
