Men’s and women’s tennis teams ready for the first-ever WAC Fall Invitational

ABILENE, Texas – The UT Arlington men’s and women’s tennis programs are ready to compete in the first-ever Western Athletic Conference Fall Invitational this Friday, October 25th through Sunday, October 27th at the John TL Jones Tennis Complex on the Abilene Christian campus.

The coach of each WAC program selected two singles players and one doubles player per gender to participate in the tournament, which is free for fans to attend. The student-athletes were seeded according to their World Tennis Number and ITA ranking.

Winners of the invitational tournament will qualify for the ITA Conference Masters Nov. 7-10 in Rome, Georgia, to attempt to compete in the NCAA singles and doubles championships in Waco later in November.

As a representative of the men’s side Pedro Sasso And Andres Medus Take the field in the singles competition, with both beginning play in the quarterfinals at 9 a.m. Friday. Sasso is the No. 4 seed while Medus is the No. 6 seed.

The team of Sasso and Yazid Lahjomri The doubles begins on Saturday, October 26th at 9 a.m. with the semi-final match. The pair enters the tournament as number 4.

New entry for women Adela Latalova will join Ana Paula Jimenez in individual competition. Latalova enters as number 12 and begins the first round of action on Friday at 9 a.m. Jimenez receives an automatic bye to the quarterfinals as she is ranked No. 2 overall.

Valeriia Ivanovskaia teams up with Jimenez in doubles, the pair are ranked No. 2 overall and begin doubles play at 9 a.m. on Saturday
