Two Buffalo police officers were injured while attempting to make an arrest

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Two Buffalo police officers are recovering after being injured during an attempted arrest early Thursday morning.

Officers responded to Blake Street around midnight for a report of a domestic disturbance and observed two people, a man and a woman, in the back seat of a vehicle parked in a driveway. Police said officers ordered them to unlock the doors and open the windows, but the man allegedly jumped into the driver’s seat and started the vehicle.

The man is accused of driving recklessly in an attempt to escape – driving through bushes, a fence and hitting a post – but the vehicle eventually came to a stop and the man and woman were arrested.

According to police, approximately 2.7 grams of suspected crack cocaine, a scale and $1,823 in cash were seized and two officers were injured while trying to arrest the person.

The injured officers and the driver of the vehicle were all transported to ECMC for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Larry Rogers, 34, of West Seneca, was charged with:

  • An assault in the second degree
  • One count: Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree
  • Two counts: Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree
  • One counts criminal mischief in the third degree
  • One count second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia
  • One count: Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree
  • One count: resisting arrest

Kayanna Lee, 23, of Buffalo was charged with:

  • One count: Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree
  • One count second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia
  • One count: Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree
