TxDOT offers Halloween driving safety tips

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – The Texas Department of Transportation’s Wichita Falls branch is encouraging motorists to be safe and alert on the roads this Halloween.

The office has released a list of tips to keep the roads accident-free this Halloween. The agency recommends using headlights, even in daylight, to improve visibility and minimize distractions from phones and radios.

In addition, drivers can scan the roads, especially curves and crosswalks, extra carefully and be extra cautious when exiting driveways.

Other recommendations included driving below the posted speed limit, avoiding rushing to pass vehicles that stop in front of other cars, and using hazards and turn signals to communicate with other drivers.

The agency also urged drivers to drive sober or have a designated driver and alert law enforcement if they see a vehicle with a drunk driver.
