Arizona Wildcats make long-awaited debut in college football recruiting rankings

The 2024 college football season has not gone according to plan for the Arizona Wildcats.

They are a disappointing 3-4 this season and are currently on a three-game losing streak. After opening their Big 12 Conference era with a road win over the Utah Utes, they have lost to the Texas Tech Red Raiders, BYU Cougars and Colorado Buffaloes.

Head coach Brent Brennan has his hands full turning things around this season as there are many holes in the squad. Unfortunately, it will probably take more than just the next few weeks to get them all connected.

Fortunately, some help will be on the way in the 2025 recruiting class.

The Wildcats have made progress on the recruiting trail. Your class currently has one top-300 prospect; Wide receiver Terry Shelton from Ranchview High School in Irving, Texas.

On the defensive side of the ball, cornerback Swayde Griffin, a product of Lago Vista High School, is their highest-rated player. Arizona prevailed with both players against, among others, its rivals, the Arizona State Sun Devils.

Their commitments have helped the Wildcats move into the top 50 of ESPN’s Craig Haubert 2025 recruiting class rankings. They were not ranked in the previous update.

“Sean Robinson is a fascinating prospect. Beyond the nickname “Rambo”, he is a young talent with a beautiful height of 1.90 meters and a weight of over 90 kilograms. He offers great positional versatility, having played multiple roles in high school, although we wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up on defense. The Wildcats have produced several strong players at WR, including four-star Terry Shelton, who is also a talented basketball player and can be a big target with the ability to shoot the ball up and win competitive matches. QB Robert McDaniel has demonstrated his talent as a passer with good touch and accuracy and is having a very good senior season. High-profile three-star CB Swayde Griffin is a prospect to keep an eye on; He has good length, is explosive and supports the run well.”

It takes some time to install a new system and find the right players for it. Brennan had some challenges transferring from San Jose State, but this squad shouldn’t have thrown in the towel just yet.

Despite their initial withdrawal from the program, they continue to rise. That speaks volumes about how much talent he brings to the program in 2024 despite some struggles on the field.
