Women’s tennis ends run at SLC Fall Championships

HAMMOND, La. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women’s tennis team concluded its run at the Southland Conference (SLC) fall championship on Thursday at the Southeastern Tennis Center in Hammond, Louisiana.

The junior doubles team Yaiza Vazquez and in the second year Hitakamya Narwhal lost their opening game 6:3, 6:3 against Aada Inna/Paulina Villegas by Nicholls. In singles, Vazquez played a tough three-set match against McNeese’s Salome Fluri but was defeated 6:3, 5:7, 6:2.

Although Vazquez and Narwal are done for the week, other members of the women’s team will begin competing at the Bearkat Invite on Friday in Huntsville.
