The New York Yankees will start Rodon and Schmidt in Games 2 and 3

LOS ANGELES – New York Yankees lefty Carlos Rodon will start in Game 2 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday, while righty Clarke Schmidt will get the ball for Game 3 in New York on Monday.

Rodon, 31, has started three games this postseason, including Games 1 and 5 against the Cleveland Guardians in the ALCS. Overall, he is 1-1 in October with a 4.40 ERA in 14.1 innings.

He gave up just three runs in 10.2 innings against Cleveland in the ALCS. During the regular season, Rodon was better at home than away, posting a 4.69 mark on the road at Yankees Stadium compared to a 3.11 ERA in New York.

Schmidt, 28, will start Game 3 for the third time this postseason and has pitched 4.2 innings in each of his previous games, against the Kansas City Royals in the ALDS and then against the Guardians in the ALCS.

He gave up four runs on nine hits and three walks along with six strikeouts in his 9.1 innings. The Dodgers have not yet announced a starter for Game 3, while right guard Yoshinobu Yamamoto will start against Rodon in Game 2.
