Pitt K Ben Sauls sets another program record

PITTSBURGH — Ben Sauls set a program record two weeks ago in a 17-15 win over Cal and broke a program record in the first half against Syracuse.

Sauls hit a 49-yard field goal in the first quarter against Syracuse, capitalizing on a Brandon George interception (the second of four in the first half), setting a program record for most consecutive field goals made.

His 59-yard field goal against Cal tied with former kicker Alex Kessman for the record for longest collegiate field goal in Pittsburgh in 2020, and it is the longest field goal by a Pitt kicker at Acrisure Stadium.

Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Chris Boswell holds the all-time rushing record at Acrisure Stadium, beating Sauls by one yard.

Sauls hasn’t missed a shot this season, as he connected on all 11 of his field goal attempts (13 from last season) and all 29 of his point-after attempts. He has scored for at least 50 yards on all three field attempts this season.

Sauls hit on 42 of 51 field goal attempts (82%) and took his game to new levels this season.

After the season, he should be firmly on the NFL’s radar.
