Raygun looks unrecognizable on the magazine cover after the viral Olympic disaster

From Olympic laughing stock to cover girl.

Rachael “Raygun” Gunn, who was mercilessly mocked for her breakdancing performance at the Paris Olympics, appears on the cover of this week’s issue of Australian magazine Stellar.

And on the cover, Raygun swapped her Olympic tracksuit for a stunning new look.

With her hair slicked back and tied in a braid, the Olympian looked gorgeous in a bright blue dress paired with strappy black sandals. Gunn also wore red lips to complete the glamorous look.

The full story won’t be published until Sunday, but the cover featured this quote from Gunn: “You didn’t bring me down. You didn’t succeed. I still stand by what I did.”

Gunn’s performance at the Paris Games showcased a unique take on the fledgling Olympic sport.

She lost all three breaking matches 0-18 and was accused of disrespecting the Olympics by even accepting an invitation to compete.

Japan’s Ami Yuasa won gold in the women’s Olympic breaking competition, while Lithuania’s Dominika Banevic secured silver and Liu Qingyi of China took bronze.

Gunn received support from loved ones amid the international outcry, which she addressed in a candid Instagram video in August.

“I didn’t realize that it would also open the door to so much hate, which was honestly pretty devastating,” Gunn, 36, said.

“Even though I went out there and had fun, I took it very seriously. I did my best in preparing for the Olympics and really did my best. It’s an honor to be part of the Australian Olympic team and to be part of Breaking’s Olympic debut. What the other athletes did was simply phenomenal.”

Gunn, an academic and lecturer at Macquarie University’s Faculty of Arts, was also honored with a statue erected in a Melbourne suburb earlier this month.

Although there has been speculation that reality TV will be Gunn’s next move, it is certainly no contest.

“I don’t think I’ll be competing for a while. “I don’t really want to be in the spotlight, to break, to compete,” Gunn said during a session on “The Project.”

“It was nice. It was quite a process to start dancing again.

“That was really hard. You know, it was my medicine, and then it became my source of stress.”

Still, Gunn is “happy that it can be my medicine again.”

“I can finally feel free again. I’m looking forward to the break, but no, I don’t think I’ll be competing for a while,” Gunn said.

There will be no breaking at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
