Top 25 New York High School Football Rankings (10/24/2024)

It’s that time of year, everyone. From October 17th to 19th, high school football games were held across New York State with plenty of great action.

The No. 1 team in the Empire State is 2023 AAA runner-up Iona Prep after they defeated Cardinal Hayes, with the latter ranked No. 2. Then came Somers and Christian Brothers Academy.

Here’s the complete breakdown of New York’s elite high school football teams as we see them ahead of Week 9 of the 2024 season.

There’s a new No. 1 in town. Iona Prep takes over the top spot in this week’s rankings after defeating Cardinal Hayes 34-27 a few weeks ago.

It seems like Cardinal Hayes has been at the top of the rankings forever. They fell to second place after losing 34-27 to Iona Prep a few weeks ago.

The Tuskers continued their undefeated streak with a 38-7 win over Brewster last week. This week they face Lakeland away from home.

It was another week for the brothers and another easy win. This time, the Christian Brothers earned a 53-21 victory over West Genesee.

Points haven’t been a problem for Maine-Endwell and they got plenty in a 55-21 win over Oneonta last week.

In the first six games played, Tottenville’s offense averaged a whopping 46.7 points per game.

The Trojans have only scored 30 points in seven games. The last win was a 49-7 victory over Lynbrook.

East Islip in wins over Centereach, West Islip, Smithtown West, West Babylon, North Babylon and Half Hallow Hills East, the Redmen won by a total of 240-42.

The Bison have made it look easy through six games, with their last win being a 26-14 decision over Averill Park. Shaker suffered its first loss in a 27-19 decision to Christian Brothers Academy.

Rye quarterback Carson Miller was impressive in five games, completing 82 of 125 passes for 1,568 yards and 18 touchdowns.

We won’t let the Flyers fall in these rankings because of a 16-14 loss to No. 2 Cardinal Hayes. This proves that Chaminade can be deeply connected to everyone in the state.

Through six games, the Sailors are averaging an impressive 41.3 points per game. Farmingdale is next on the road.

Since the season-opening loss to St. John’s College High, Bennett has won five straight games. In the season finale against Orchard Park they want to make it for the seventh time in a row.

The Golden Flashes continued their strong play this season with a 28-21 win over Half Hollow Hills West last week.

We’re bringing St. Anthony’s into the fold and taking into account the schedule they’ve already played. A 48-40 loss to No. 1 Iona Prep a few weeks ago keeps them higher in this week’s rankings.

New Hartford has given up just 72 points through seven wins this season. Next up for the Spartans is Central Valley Academy.

We took Waverly down a few notches after they suffered a 41-21 loss to Maine-Endwell a few weeks ago. They continued their winning streak with a 50-6 win over Tioga.

In seven games played, the Warriors are averaging a whopping 56.0 points per game. This has been a very strong offense all season.

The Warriors lost their first game of the season a few weeks ago with a 42-10 loss to Christian Brothers Academy. Liverpool ends the regular season with a game against Proctor.

Canisius running back Elijah Kimble was among the best at his position in the state, running for 994 yards and scoring 17 touchdowns.

The Huskers lost their third game of the season with a 34-21 loss to Rye, another team on this list.

The Broncos have only scored 33 points in six games. They will face Edgemont at home this week.

When you take a closer look at the Lions’ losses, this is undoubtedly the best four-loss team in the Empire State.

Half Hallow Hills West was another club that suffered its first loss of the season with a 28-21 decision to Sayville. This close style of play puts them among the top 25 teams in the state.

The Bruins make their ranked debut this week after beating Spencerport 41-21 last week.
