ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A Gwinnett County School District bus driver has been charged with assaulting a middle school student, according to an arrest warrant.

The arrest warrant states that Rhodesia Ealey “slapped, pinched and choked a 12-year-old seventh grade student.”

McConnell Middle School Principal Derico White said the bus driver was immediately placed on administrative leave after the incident was reported and was later fired.

“A former Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) bus driver who previously transported your student was recently arrested and charged with physical violence against a student on the bus. To be clear, this individual is no longer employed by GCPS,” Principal Derico White said in a letter to parents.

Ealey was released on a $1,000 bond.

Atlanta News First staff attempted to contact Ealey via Facebook and telephone but did not receive a response.
