BALTIMORE – A suspect remains at large following a double shooting in Severn Thursday evening, the Anne Arundel County Police Department (AAACPD) said. AACPD has launched an investigation into the incident.

The shooting occurred in the 8800 block of Tomlinson Court, injuring a 39-year-old woman and sending a 16-year-old to the hospital in critical condition.

Police report that a large crowd of 16 people were outside in a courtyard when a fight broke out. The suspect fired several times into the crowd, hitting the 16-year-old boy and striking a 39-year-old woman.

When police arrived around 6:15 p.m., they followed a blood-stained sidewalk and found the 16-year-old bleeding to death nearly a block away.

While the 39-year-old is stable, the 16-year-old is in critical condition after being shot several times.

“This appears to be a targeted incident,” said Lt. Aj Gardiner of the Anne Arundel Police Department.

WJZ reporter Kelsey Kushner said there were evidence markers scattered around the scene when she arrived Thursday evening.

According to the police, a total of 10 to 17 people were involved in the altercation. It is unknown whether they were all involved in the fight or tried to break it up.

“I think it’s important for people to get involved. Violence occurs on our streets because we are unable to resolve an argument in a more adult manner,” Gardiner said.
